HEI impacts

Welcome to the CPPR ESRC network on the overall impact of HEIs on regional economies

Led by the Centre for Public Policy for Regions (CPPR), and supported by the ESRC, the aim of this network is to create an active and dynamic, multi-disciplinary network of interested academic experts and policy professionals to explore the issues surrounding the overall or system-wide impact of higher education institutions on regional economies.

Our objectives are to uncover gaps in extant knowledge of the overall impact of HEIs and to suggest means of closing the gaps we identify and offer a preliminary assessment of alternatives.

To achieve these objectives a virtual forum has been set up which is intended to facilitate remote exchange between forum members as well as to act as a dissemination point for network findings.  The network, and particularly the operation of the Virtual Forum, is intended to be inclusive and to stimulate discussion and debate on the key issues relating to the overall impact of HEIs on regional economies.

From an initial core membership of academics and policy professionals (see HEI Forum Membership), we expect that the network forum will evolve to include other experts who have an interest in the subject and are willing to participate.

You must register to join the network forum.

More information on joining can be obtained from the Forum Coordinator.  Instructions on how to use the forum are available: HERE Forum Login Instructions.

To launch the network we will be holding an inaugural seminar on 23 March 2006 from 12noon - 4pm at the University of Strathclyde.
