There are two main research themes within the Centre for Public Policy for Regions (CPPR). Each theme consists of three projects.

Understanding spatial economic change

This theme will analyse major processes of economic change at different spatial scales, including changes in trade, movements in capital, labour migration, innovation and property markets. It will also examine changing urban and regional disparities within Scotland, the UK and Europe.

The Projects included under this theme are:

1. Trade, Mobility & Geographic Concentration

2. Cities and Regions: Changing Spatial Imbalances

3. Regional Growth, Enterprise and Productivity

Patterns and effectiveness of multi-level governance of economic policies

This will analyse the spatial effects of non-spatial policies (such as fiscal and monetary policies) and how sectoral, spatial and sub-national policies come together. It will also examine the relationship between the structures and processes of government/governance at neighbourhood, city and regional levels.

The Projects included under this theme are:

4. Regional Impacts of National Policies

5. Regeneration & Economic Development

6. Economics of Multi-Level Government
